Jacob Buursma, undergrad RA

Jacob is originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan. He is an undergraduate student in the Honors College here at WSU, where he is pursuing a double major in neuroscience and psychology. Jacob joined the lab in August 2021 as a research assistant on the ‘Mouse Cannabis Vapor Team.’ He is currently working on a project involving the validation of a novel cannabis vapor delivery approach in mice. In 2023, he was awarded a prestigious Barry Goldwater Scholarship to use this approach to study the influence of adolescent cannabis use on cortical maturation. After he graduates, Jacob plans on pursuing a medical doctorate degree with the hope of going into clinical psychiatry.
